These Czech glass beads have an 8-pointed star (compass-like design) pressed into them. The 8-pointed star has been used in many ancient cultures. The ancient Babylonians used this symbol to represent the Star of Ishtar (also called the Star of Venus), representing the ancient goddess the Queen of Heaven.
